About GratefulWonder

Sharing with everyone a little of my experiences of awe, wonder and love while making sure to give thanks for experiences. I think we could all use more joy and wonder in our lives, don’t you?

Who is GratefulWonder?

GratefulWonder is a website and blog idea that I have had floating around in my head for the last few years. 2020 saw me face some large challenges regarding my Husband’s health concerns, renovating a 100 year old Queenslander house, managing 60 head of cattle on a 2000 acre block an hour west of home and of course do the usual of work full time and run a household. I decided (before all that befell us for 2020) that this was the year for me to be Bold. Start to conquer those challenges across my life. I am so glad that I have taken up trying to conquer my challenges. This is when one truely learns how to grow and you realise how far you have come and how much further you really can go. Life without challenges can be really boring.

Husband Dear and I decided that we would returned to my hometown after I left for university in my late teenage years. As much as it feels like you are going to go backwards moving back to your home town I can honestly say that it was a great decision. My boys have grown up with their Great-Grandparents, Great-Aunts, Grandparents and Uncles and Aunts. They have experienced a rich tapestry of family relationships. Not many children can say that they had fulfilling relationship with 3 of their Great-Grandparents and a Great-Great-Aunt. The intergenerational learning that has come through to them has been amazing. Never doubt the power of family. I am truely blessed to have had such wonderful role models growing up that were my family and that my children have also gotten to witness and be apart of that as well.

I just want to share what I have learnt through my own experiences. I have come to understand that sometimes we need to start giving thanks and gratitude for all the many wonderful joys that are already in our life. They do not need to be grand and large but we do need to pay attention, otherwise we miss those moments.

Not until we are lost do we begin to understand ourselves.

Who Am I

A 40 something female who has taught many children all her working life throughout many QLD towns. I did the traditional thing of getting married, having children and getting a mortgage.

Living Quarters

I managed to sweet talk my builder husband into buying and having to renovate a 100 year old Queenslander on 200 metres of river bank. It was originally a Church of England Manse so I’m excited to trace down some of the house history as we renovate.

Family

I have 2 teenage children boys who like to sleep and are the best of friends and the worst of enemies. My husband and I have been joyfully married (yes that’s the truth) for over 17 years now.

Want to Achieve

I love learning so am having fun learning about how to build websites, blog and do the social media thing. I also love teaching and have been at that game for 20 odd years now. I want to continue to challenge myself and grow as a person. I also want to make sure my boys are able to be productive members of our society (so that is my biggest goal).
